To secure that magic 7+ for Vocabulary, you must use slang on IELTS Speaking Parts 1 and 2.slang free time ielts speaking

Are you able to use native speaker slang?

The examiner must hear a range of vocabulary to award you a 7 or higher for Vocabulary on the IELTS Speaking exam.
This means that you must be able to use some slang and idioms in Parts 1 and 2, because those questions are personal and informal. Then, in Part 3, you should use some higher-level, academic terms.

There are many lists on ESL websites that present slang. However, these lists are often too long, and they usually contain terms that are no longer really used.

So, in today’s video, get slang that native speakers really use to talk about free time, interests and hobbies, and impress the examiner on IELTS test day!

In this video lesson, learn what the following slang terms mean, and how to use them on your next IELTS Speaking exam.

-Chill (adj. NOT “chill out”!)
-Binge on
-Wicked
-Super into
-Sci-fi girl
-Loopy
-Firing on all cylinders
-Nailed it/killed it

These slang terms can be used to describe the very common IELTS Speaking topic of free time/leisure time, but can also be applied in a variety of contexts on the Speaking exam.

You should choose 3-4 of the vocabulary terms and write them in your vocabulary notebook. Then, practice using them in a sentence about yourself.

After you do this, you can practice them in real IELTS answers. Keep the list in front of you, and answer the following questions:

What kind of movies do you enjoy watching?

What did you do last weekend?

In our online IELTS course, the 3 Keys IELTS Success System, we give you all the strategies you need to score highly in all parts of the IELTS Exam.
