IELTS Energy 682: Writing Wisdom from the 3 Keys Community

Today you’ll get writing wisdom from our 3 Keys community.

Every month, we have a Writing Wizard Contest in our closed Facebook group for 3 Keys IELTS.

In the first week of the month, we put a Writing Task 2 question in the group. Students can submit their answers for free, or decide to upgrade for feedback.

Then, Jessica chooses the best essay, and this essay is posted in the group.

That means you can see a 7+ model Task 2 essay every month, written by a student, just like you!

Make sure it’s IELTS valid.

Hand-write your essay, and then type it up to submit.

Don’t make it too long, to the point that you couldn’t do it in 40 minutes.

Your essay should be fewer than 300 words.

Don’t try to reinvent the wheel.

Use a template, like the 3 Keys Task 2 template.

Don’t waste too much time on the introduction, or try to add sentences/ideas where they don’t belong.

Now is the time to take vocabulary risks.

On test day, of course, you shouldn’t take risks with vocabulary that you’re not sure of.

However, in this contest, this is your chance to try out new words, get feedback from me, and find out if the phrases are appropriate or not.

Don’t repeat words from the test question.

Use paraphrases, or pronoun reference, to replace these words.
