Today you’ll get a sample IELTS historical Part 2 answer.

Recently, we had this question from a 3 Keys student:

Could you please record a speaking answer about a historical event that you would like to know more about.

Last year, we did an episode about describing a historical event as well.

In Speaking Part 2, you get a card with a topic from the examiner. Then, you have 1 minute to take notes.

After that, you must talk for 2 minutes.

Next, in Speaking Part 3, you will be asked more questions related to the Part 2 topic.

Notes from Jessica’s answer:

  • what grabs me about this cue card is…
  • not just as the ancient past
  • in fact, there is a senate inquiry
  • a fiend for the news
  • digging in to current events
  • tidbits on the news
  • impeachment
  • immediately preceding
  • music mogul

Note in the beginning how Jessica makes sure to explicitly explain she was choosing a recent event, and how that should still be considered ‘history’.
