This could describe basically anything, like experiences, for example.

Describes something old, worn out and broken down, like a car or a device.

doesn’t hold up /measure up (excellent for Argument essays)

Describes opinions/ideas that you don’t agree with.

Measure up‘ can be more specific, like something is ‘not good enough‘.

Describes something that is not as good as something else.
