IELTS Energy 642: Valery’s Overall 7 (And Bad Examiner Experience)

Today you’ll learn how Valery got an overall 7, and her bad experience with the Speaking examiner.

valery overall 7 bad examiner experience

She took IELTS for the first time, after doing 3 Keys IELTS, so she can study in the UK.

She got an overall 7 on her IELTS Exam, despite getting a 6 on Speaking.

Valery has been speaking English most of her life, and deserved a much higher score than that.

The Speaking Examiner actually did not conduct the Speaking test correctly.

She started timing and recording as soon as Valery entered the door, which is not supposed to happen, and started the exam on the wrong foot.

If Examiners don’t follow the same strict procedures as everyone else, that basically means the score is invalid. Valery should talk to the test center administrator about this.

Valery was worried because she didn’t address all the bullet points on the Part 2 cue card; subsequently, she felt totally panicked in Part 3 and didn’t speak well.

Remember, though, students, you don’t have to answer the questions on the Part 2 card– you only have to address the top of the card that says, “Describe…“.

Plus, the examiner didn’t try to develop a conversation in Speaking Part 3, as she should have. This, also, makes performing well difficult.

Nevertheless, Valery did very well in the other sections.
