hossain stoked writing ielts

Hossain won the Writing Wizard contest this month, and he’ll tell you why in today’s episode!

What is more, talking to me today was the very first time that Hossain had ever spoken to a native speaker. This is an exciting interview!

One of the main reasons that Hossain’s essay won the contest this month was the amazing vocabulary that he used.

You can learn the same vocabulary as he did by subscribing to our YouTube channel, IELTS Energy TV. There are tons of vocabulary videos on there, for Speaking and Writing.

He also effectively used much of the academic vocabulary taught in our course.

Before taking our course, Hossain had never learned how to write an academic essay, and, after winning the contest, he feels “out of this world.”

As far as his writing process, he followed the templates and strategies from the course, including all of the high-level transition words/phrases and the method for organizing ideas.

Now, it is due to Hossain’s hard work that the ideas themselves were strong and impressive.

The topic this month was about reading for pleasure– the causes for people not doing this anymore, and the reasons why people should be reading.

An excerpt from his second paragraph:

There are some blatant and obvious causes for this problem. The first is that ready-made and glamorous stuff which is tremendously attractive to young individuals for amusement nowadays is available online. For instance, after opening a PC or a personal gadget like a phone, a person utilizes different kinds of social media, having chats, making calls, watching videos…

What is notable about this brief glance into his essay is his outstanding vocabulary and the specific support for his ideas.

Hossain notes that at first brainstorming was very difficult. Then, he practiced the strategy. As with anything new, you must practice a lot in order to become efficient and effective.

When he sees the question, he underlines the key words. Then, he is focuses on these key words to generate ideas in his brainstorm.

Remember to keep your vocabulary notebook in front of you while you write, so you force yourself to use those words.
