Today I provide tips for how to focus for 3 hours on exam day, so you’re ready for IELTS!

“Since the exam is to be taken for 3 hours at a stretch, I lost all my energy in the Listening part.”

1. The day before your exam, don’t study much, if at all.

2. Sleep well the night before.

3. Eat a hearty breakfast that morning- but not to the point of being stuffed, or that yields sleepiness and lethargy.

4. Drink some coffee or tea, but manage your intake of liquids the morning of the exam so you won’t be distracted by restroom needs.

5. Bring a water bottle with no label to the exam, to stay hydrated during the test.

6. Most of all, make sure that you’ve learned and practiced all the strategies you need for every part of the exam. That way, you’ll feel calm and confident from the start.

7. If you panic or lose focus, bring yourself back by depending on the fundamental strategies you’ve learned, such as those in our 3 Keys system.

8. Prepare well in other areas, meaning watch/listen/read widely in English, so you’re not thrown by unfamiliar topics.
