Did you know that immunizations are actually a controversial topic in some countries these days? Would you know how to write an essay about it?sample ielts task 2 essay immunizations

That means that a question about this might come up on the exam, in Writing Task 2 or Speaking Part 3.

In talking to students from other countries, I realized that the choice to immunize your child is not a choice in many places, and therefore this may not be something many IELTS candidates would have thought about before.

Below is a sample essay about this debatable issue.

Some parents are choosing not to immunize their children nowadays. Many, however, feel that this is not a responsible choice.

Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

Certain caretakers have been making headlines recently for choosing not to immunize their offspring. They feel that it may be dangerous. However, I am of the opinion that all competent parents should choose to vaccinate their children. In this essay, I will examine both sides of the contentious issue as well as provide my own opinion.

Looking at the opinion that immunizations are not necessary, there are some supporting factors. The main one is that there does exist so-called scientific reports that vaccinations can lead to permanent damage in children. The sources of these “studies” can mostly be found in the social media output by celebrity parents, such as Jenny McCarthy. The claim here is that there have been reported incidences of measles and small pox vaccines being administered to healthy children, and then soon after the child exhibits signs of autism.

Nevertheless, I have no empathy for that opinion whatsoever. The mere fact that parents can choose whether or not to protect their children from life-threatening diseases and are not doing so proves that this is a first-world, luxury problem. Their immature notions are having very real, disastrous consequences. Just last week, there was a report in the Associated Press that 5 children in a private school in Seattle were diagnosed with polio. Just because their parents refused to immunize them against this crippling illness, these young people face a life of difficulty due to impaired mobility.

In sum, I believe it is ludicrous to not vaccinate one’s child. I sincerely hope that the next president of the United States passes legislation to require all young people to be immunized.

  • Immunizations / vaccinations should be taken as seriously as anything else . One thing we all concern in common is the health of our offspring . Nothing else matters to us but a child’s protection from life-threatening diseases . No young kids should be denied the right to be immunized / vaccinated . Oh God , it hurts so much to see a person handicapped / impared / disable due to lack of administering .
