Our strategy here goes back to our overarching belief in honesty.

IELTS is a test of your communication ability, not your knowledge on a wide range of topics.

So, if you really have no experience or thoughts about a topic, here’s your strategy:

1- Be honest about your lack of knowledge.

2- Say why you don’t know about this, and/or how you intend to learn about it in the future.

Question 1:

How do private schools benefit the students?

I would say:

Wow, to be honest I have no idea about private schooling. I was born and raised on the west coast of the States, in a small town. The only private school we had was a Catholic school, and that only went up to eighth grade. However, now that I have a son, I’m becoming curious myself about the possible academic and athletic positives that a upper-level institution may bring, and I intend to start researching some options in my area.

Question 2:

What is your view on teachers who give prizes to students?

I would say:

To be honest, teachers didn’t really reward us with tangible things when I was in school. I mean, we had certificates sometimes for good grades or attendance, but that’s just a piece of paper. I suppose that children would be motivated by prizes like candy or toys, but that wouldn’t really be healthy or educational. So, I guess I’d have to say I disagree with that notion.
