You want to sell your car. A friend of yours might want to buy it from you. Write a letter to your friend.

In your letter:

  • Explain why you are selling the car.
  • Describe the car.
  • Say why it is a good idea for your friend to buy it.

Dear Simon,

Hey! How’s it going? I have some news you might be interested to hear- I’m finally selling my dad’s old ’67 Chevy. Now that I have a family, with two little firecrackers, this mode of transport just isn’t cutting it. My wife freaks out about the lack of safety, and, unfortunately, she’s not wrong! They didn’t design those old beasts with car seats in mind.

Now, buddy, I know how much you’ve always loved this car. I recently had it painted, as well, restoring the shiny black coat it was born with. Also, last year, we reupholstered it with this incredible cherry-red leather that is rather delicious looking. I really don’t want to give up this gorgeous creature!

Anyway, I know this car suits your lifestyle to a T. Since you bike commute to work, it’s not like you’d be putting on the miles. This car exists for the pure pleasure of cruising, which I know you love. Plus, I’m willing to sell it at a significant discount to you, because I know you’d take care of her!

Let me know what you think!

All the best,

Mike

It is supposed to be one of my lifetime experiences in the US. Since I’ve never been there before , can you spare some time with me to be my tour guide ? It would be my greatest privilege to meet you in person ? I’m really, really eager to make close acquaintance with you and your family.

Here is my flight schedule . I’ll be arriving at Portland International Airport at 3pm local time on Sunday , August 3rd. Let me know if you are available to pick me up .

    Yours truly,
