5 sensational secrets IELTS listening reading

How to Write Dates

In the States, we write April 3 as 4/3, but in many other countries they would write 3/4.

You could also write April 3, 3 April or April 3rd.

As far as time, you can write 11:30 (Am) or 11.30 (Br).

As long as your format is correct in the U.S. or England, it is correct on IELTS Listening and Reading.

When to Capitalize

You can write every letter as a capital, such as BRIDGE.

If you are not sure about proper nouns, this might be a good strategy for you. However, this would be something you’d have to practice before test day.

How to Spell Correctly

Again, if it is correct in American English or British English, it is correct. You can even switch back and forth in your Listening and Reading answers.

In Writing, though, it is recommended to stay consistent. Nevertheless, this is really only an issue if you are aiming for an 8 or 9 in vocabulary.

Extra Listening and Reading Tip #1

You will never repeat a word from the question in the answer.

For example, if the question was “Lindsay was arrested in 2017 in ________.”

You know you need a place for that answer. So, you would write “Boston”, not “2017 Boston”.

Extra Listening and Reading Tip #2

If you are doing table, note or diagram completion, look at the other words in the category.

For instance, if the other words are verb-ing, your answer must be verb-ing as well.
