Today you’ll learn 2 strategies to help you slow down your preparation for IELTS Speaking Exam to get higher scores.

We are helping a listener today who wrote in about panic on Speaking Parts 2 and 3.

As for speaking, if I’ve got ideas I can speak, but Parts 2 and 3 scare me a lot because of length in Part 2 and ideas in Part 3. Moreover, I can’t say that I’m a fluent speaker. I didn’t think IELTS would be that tough, but it is, and I study reluctantly. Preparing for IELTS is becoming so dull for me. I’m utterly worried about my score, whether I can get it or not. What’s more, although I have a daily plan I see no improvements. However, I need at least a 7 to do my Masters degree abroad. Please help me.

How to develop fluency and confidence in Speaking Part 2

3 or 4 times a week, get one Part 2 card. Answer this one card three times.

It’s important to repeat the same answer more than once, because each time you repeat you add details and your answers become smoother and more natural.

Specific details are vital. You want to create an image in the examiner’s mind through your vivid description.

In only 10 minutes, you are becoming more fluent!

How to slow down and develop strong Speaking Part 3 answers

Part 3 is difficult. You need a strategy of organization to fall back on for the very challenging questions.

To improve your Speaking Part 3 answers, remember that they are very similar to Writing Task 2.

You will use the same organization, linking words, vocabulary, and ideas.

So, sit down and actually write out your Part 3 answers, keeping all of those features in mind.

Then, after a week, you can start answering out loud.

Again, add this activity to your study plan.

Test prep should not be boring!

Find a course or teacher that motivates you and helps you to enjoy your IELTS studies as much as possible!
