To make this even more amazing, she had never taken IELTS before!

Esther found out that she had to take the IELTS exam in 32 days in order to get the visa. So, she followed our 30 day study plan and passed the first time!

Now that she got the IELTS scores she needed, her and her husband can move to a small town in Canada to work in a pharmacy.

How to get a 7.5 in IELTS Speaking

For many students, the first time taking the Speaking Exam is fraught with anxiety. How did Esther stay calm?

She recalled an episode we did about the ‘coffee shop method‘. This strategy is about staying calm and confident on the exam by pretending you are talking to a friend, instead of an examiner. This method also helps in brainstorming for Writing Task 2.

Furthermore, the anti-anxiety module in our course really helped. Usually, Esther is not a good test-taker, so the advice here really helped her focus on all parts of the exam.

Esther also learned a lot of vocabulary from our course and our podcast.

Finally, Esther says that knowing what the examiner wanted on test day and exactly what to expect on the exam really helped her succeed.

How to get a 7.5 in IELTS Listening

As for Listening, and all parts of the exam for that matter, Esther says that she stuck to her 30 day study plan and completed all the practice and activities. She says that sticking to a strict plan is necessary.

The strategies she learned for listening, about keeping track of keywords, helped her to focus.

She even lost track at one point, missing one or two questions, but she remembered the strategies she learned and was able to get a handle on the situation.
